REINDEER RAID

When we arrive in Risvika, your guide for the evening will provide you with warm clothing. When everyone is fully dressed we head for the Sami lavvy (traditional Sami housing) and the tourists will be informed about the centre, and the activities we offer –as well as the necessary facilities.

The  reindeers are trained to pull a sled, and they will be waiting for the arrival of the tourists. You will go on a amazing trip to experience the traditional Sami way of transport several years ago.

While sledding through the Norwegian winter landscape the only thing you will hear is the reindeer belle. A seldom peaceful experience.

The sled ride takes about 20- 30 minutes.

When we return to the lavvy, we serve coffee made on bonfire, and the Sami traditional meal called Bidos (with vegetables and reindeer meat). The warmth from the bonfire and the warm soup will bring you back in time and give you a glimpse to feel and experience how the Sami people lived their lives.

Also, your guide for the evening will tell you stories about the Sami people, and their history and way of living.

You will be shown how to throw lasso on antlers, and you will also get the opportunity to try it yourself.

Behind the reindeer fence we also have reindeers that you can take pictures of, and if you’re lucky they will eat from your hand.
